Northern City

Northern City is the best Chinese food in Bridgeport and the best service of any Chinese restaurant in Chicago. The order I placed last time was not correct but it was not the fault of the restaurant. Rather I blame Grubhub for not posting an accurate menu from which to order. I have eaten at Northern City many times and I like to order the dumplings and Beef Noodles (. When I placed my order I thought this was what I was ordering but it wasn't. The reason for this was that the menu on Grubhub is only in English and has no Chinese. Chinese food is vast and sometimes complicated. For someone like myself, who knows a the difference between beef noodle soup and beef noodle soup, it can be frustrating when I don't get what I thought I was getting. Fortunately Northern City is such a nice restaurant, with such a kind owner, that when I called to tell them I didn't get what I though I was getting, they replaced my Grubhub order with the noodles I actually wanted, free of charge. In addition to the high quality and authentic taste of their food, it is the high level of service and customer care that makes Northern City the best Chinese restaurant in Chicago. Seriously so good. The crab rangoon was the best, gen tso chix was super crispy on arrival which is super rare, fried rice was super good very greasy but in a good way. The only thing that I didnt absolutely love were the egg rolls because the filling was a little mushy and prefer the crunchier cabbage filling, but thats a personal preference. Seriously the best place will always order from here

only had it twice so far, so results may vary, but it always tastes more like someone made it, like a neighbor or a relative, and less like a restaurant made it. Stick to the more authentic items and you wont be disappointed. Havent tasted some of these flavors since I traveled to China (Hong Kong, but close enough) as a kid!

Food is excellent, especially the spicy beef belly noodle soup, "pancake garlic chives and leeks", and the "special pancake" are all authentic and delicious.

Only gripe is the restaurant is always consistently late. It takes on average 1.5 hrs for food to be delivered from the time it's ordered. YMMV.

Our food arrived 20 minutes early! Love the braised eggplant and sauted string beans as usual. Our go-to when we want Chinese food.
